APC govs fine tune strategies for Kogi, Bayelsa polls

All Progressives Congress governors, under the aegis of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, met in Abuja on Thursday, to reposition the party and fine tune strategies on how to win the forth coming governorship elections.

The meeting which started at about 9:13pm at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, ended at about 12:26am on Friday.

It had 14 state governors and two deputy governors as well as the party’s national Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, in attendance.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the PGF, Rochas Okorocha, said members discussed a wide range of issues, including the National Assembly crisis and the forth coming governorship elections in Bayelsa and Kogi States.

Okorocha who spoke to reporters soon after the meeting said, “We are also very happy about the development in the House of Representatives, as peace is gradually returning to the National Assembly.

“We are very happy that what has taken place in the Federal House, will soon take place in the Senate and we are resolved to make our party bigger and better than what it is now. So, we welcome interested parties to join us in building the Nigeria of our dreams.”

Responding to a question on what exactly transpired in the Senate, Okorocha said, “Peace will return. We hope that very soon, we will see total peace as we saw in the House.”

He also expressed confidence that all other issues, including the alleged marginalisation of the South East in the distribution of offices, will be taken care of as the peace process progresses.
