'Sosoliso Crash' Will Never Happen Again, FG Vows

The Federal Government has vowed to take necessary steps to ensure that another plane crash like that of Sosoliso air crash which claimed about 109 lives 10 years ago does not reoccur.
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, made the vow on Thursday at the Port Harcourt International Airport during a candle light procession in memory of 60 students of Loyola Jesuit College, Abuja, who lost their lives in the Sosoliso crash at the airport Saturday, December 10, 2005.



Osinbajo, who was represented by the Chief Executive of the College of Aviation Technology, Capt. Samuel Akindele, said recalled that the air crash caused pains to many families and the government and people of Nigeria and said the government was poised to avoid a reoccurrence of that accident.
His words: "As it is with every air crash, lessons have been learnt. The Federal Government, through the relevant agencies, is determined to reposition the aviation industry with a strong view to attaining greater safety of air transportation.

"Let me at this point, on behalf of the ministry of transportation, the aviation sector in particular, condolences the families of victims, the Loyola Jesuit College, on this painful accident and enjoin each and every one to pray for the repose of the souls of our beloved children who are now angels."
