Fulani Herdsmen Kill 40 Farmers In Fresh Attack

As Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom battles to ensure the return of sustainable peace in the war-torn Agatu communities of the state following invasion of the area by suspected Fulani insurgents, the invaders last Thursday extended their attack to nine villages in the homestead of former governor of the state, Dr. Gabriel Suswam, leaving at least 40 people dead.
Many people are reported wounded, several houses as well as farmlands produce burnt to ashes, while hordes of other people are still missing just as the entire has been deserted.

The recent attack by the herders on innocent farmers in the area is coming barely 10 days after the insurgents invaded the densely populated Ukemberagya community in Logo Local Government Area killing one person.
It was learnt that trouble started when the Fulani herdsmen drove their cattle for grazing on the compound of one Mr. Orvesen of Tswarev community last Thursday.
It was gathered that attempts by the Tiv villagers to drive the cows out of the compound was resisted by the herders who insisted on feeding their animals on the dried cassava, a development that sparked off a sharp disagreement between the two parties.
