According to North Korean news agency DPRK Today, North Korea claims to possess all the technology needed to commit a successful launch in case of offensive actions taken by South Korea and the US, currently conducting joint military exercises on South Korean territory.
"Our hydrogen bomb is much bigger than the one developed by the Soviet Union… If this H-bomb were to be mounted on an intercontinental ballistic missile and fall on Manhattan in New York City, all the people there would be killed immediately, and the city would burn down to ashes," DPRK Today reported.
Military and scientific experts, however, have doubts that North Korea in fact has the capacity to launch a missile that would reach the East Coast. The very possession of a hydrogen bomb by the nation still remains unconfirmed and controversial.
The current turn of in international tension started January 6th when North Korea conducted its 4th underground nuclear test, followed by a missile launch in February. The US imposed a new set of sanctions as a response, and later joined South Korea, New Zealand and Australia in a massive military exercise, imitating storming North Korean beach defenses.
