Dual Citizenship: Ben Murray Bruce wins court case

Silverbird chairman, Ben Murray Bruce has won the court case challenging his right to occupy the office of a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, having sworn to an oath of allegiance to the United States of America. The common sense Senator tweeted the news just hours ago. Ben Murray Bruce was back in 2011 screened out of the Bayelsa governorship race by the Gubernatorial Screening Appeal Committee of the PDP in Bayelsa State, for possessing dual citizenship. Also in 2015, one of the contestants in the Bayelsa East Senatorial District election, Chief Anthony George Ikoli SAN, asked the court to determine whether a man with dual citizenship, who swore to an oath repudiating his citizenship of the country of birth can aspire to become a Senator of the same country, particularly Nigeria under section 66 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
