Obiano Signs MOU With Graffil Group For Integrated Terminal And Park In Onitsha

Anambra state government signed MOU with Graffil group.

Anambra State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Graffil Group for the establishment of an integrated Trailer Terminal and Park at the New Tarzan Park Onitsha.

Government House Correspondent Kenechukwu Ofomah who was at the Governor's Lodge Amawbia where the ceremony took place reports that Governor Willie Obiano signed on behalf of the State Government.


His story. The MoU with an expected total investment of about 2.64 billion naira, will see the State invest 340 million naira as its equity contribution while the investor will bring 2.3 billion naira. The project which will be executed under a Public Private Partnership Structure with a Special Purpose Vehicle to be known as Anambra State Government Onitsha Park Investment Limited, will include a 105-room hotel, an event Centre, Fuel/Gas Service Station, an Administrative Building, a housing Estate, Bank Cash Centre and a Shopping Emporium.

Performing the function, Governor Obiano said the MoU is strategic in the realization of his administration's safer roads.

According to him, the first phase of the project, the Trailer Park which is expected to be completed within six months, will be followed by a legislation that will prohibit indiscriminate parking along the roads by trailers which cause accidents and destroy the roads.

Governor Obiano who observed that the project has great prospects for improved IGR and job creation for the state, urged the investor to immediately hit the ground running and ensure that the project is delivered on schedule.

Earlier while reeling out the details of the Mou, the Chairman of ANSIPPA and Traditional Ruler of Umuoji, Igwe Cyril Enweze, said the project seeks to promote a healthier environment and better organised transportation system with a strategic approach to urban sanitation in the state and reduce the incidents of congestion and disorderly vehicular arrangement on the state's roads.

On his part, the President, Grafil Group, Dr Forster Ihejiofor assured of their commitment towards driving project, commending Governor Obiano for his vision in creating the enabling environment that had attracted huge investments into the state.

In a vote of thanks, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Renewal, Engr Frank Offor revealed that the State government had kickstarted the project with site clearing, re-survey and perimeter fencing, adding that the Ministry will follow through the construction phase to ensure that the project is executed in compliance with the project design.
