Pass Money Laundering Bill, Buhari Tells NASS

President Muhammadu Buhari, has called on the National Assembly to quickly pass the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Bill 2016 and others currently before it.
The president made the call last night at a dinner he had with the National Assembly members at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.


He also urged the passage of the Mutual Legal Assistant in Criminal Matters Bill, Federal Capital Territory Appropriation Bill, Statutory Budget of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Bill for Acts for Domestication of Agreements for Avoidance of Double Taxation between Nigeria and South Korea. Spain, and Sweden respectively.

He said the FCT and the NDDC could not deliver their statutory mandates unless their budgets were approved by the National Assembly. He thanked the legislators for the passage of the 2016 budget.
Buhari explained that the dinner was aimed at marking the 2016 Democracy Day and appreciating the National Assembly leadership membership and management for their efforts.
He said he was conscious that on June 9, 2016, the National Assembly would complete one legislative year.
Earlier, Senate President Bukola Saraki congratulated Buhari’s administration for its first year.
Those present at the dinner included the Speaker Yakubu Dogara; former vice president, Atiku Abubakar; national leader of the APC Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the APC national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun.
