Obiano To Ngige: You're Confused

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has advised the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Chris Ngige to concentrate on how to create jobs for teeming unemployed Nigerians as well as find solution to the lingering problems in the labour sector rather than “seeking attention” by criticising his government.

Ngige had, in a recent comment, said Governor Obiano will not return to the Government House for second term “due to his poor performance indices.” He described Obiano as a failure and claimed that his achievements in three years as governor of Anambra State supersede All Progressive Grand Alliance’s 11 years in office.
Responding to Ngige’s claim, Governor Obiano’s Senior Special Assistant, Politica, Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne, described Ngige as “a confused politician and attention seeker who only wants to distract the governor from the good work he is doing in the state.”

“If Ngige is a super leader, he should address lingering problems in the labour sector which has led to the killing of a civil servant in Kogi.
“He is seeking attention because I am yet to see any political party that has been able to do what APGA government has done in Anambra State. Ngige should listen to Senator Ben Bruce, who is neither from Anambra nor an APGA loyalist, but urged the Federal Government to borrow a leaf from Anambra State in terms of provision of security, infrastructure and prompt payment of workers’ salaries,” Nwabunwanne said.

“Anambra is, today, an investment destination and the safest state in Nigeria courtesy of Governor Obiano. So, I don’t actually know what the labour minister meant by poor performance in office. If you compare the two years
Obiano has been in office and Ngige’s three years, you will see that the different is clear.
“So, we challenge Ngige to a public debate. People like him should thank the governor for extending dividends of democracy to Idemili area where he comes from.

Obiano is constructing roads and bridges, controlling erosion and renovating schools and hospitals in Idemili which Ngige never did for the people of Anambra North when he was governor,” he noted.
On next year’s governorship election in the state, Nwabunne said: “Any sensitive person knows that the only way peace can reign in Anambra State is to allow the people of Anambra North complete their eight-year tenure, because, this state will return to the era of crisis if the zone is denied the remaining four years.”
